SYNOPSIS : After an ordeal at the hands of a savage killer, war correspondent Connie Burns flees to the most remote place she can imagine; outback Australia.
Two years earlier, on assignment in Sierra Leone, Connie witnesses a savage attack on a local prostitute by British mercenary, Kevin McKenzie. Delving into MacKenzie’s murky past, Connie is convinced that he is using the chaos of war to cover his sadistic desires, but doesn’t have the evidence to prove it. In Iraq, two years later, following the rape and murder of several local prostitutes, the results of Connie’s second attempt to expose MacKenzie are devastating; he snatches her from her car and imprisons her for three terrifying days. When MacKenzie releases her, in a cat and mouse move that only Connie understands, she quits her job, shuts herself off from friends and family, and flees to Australia where she hides out in a small country town, terrified of the day MacKenzie will start up the game again.
At first Connie shuns the friendship of the ‘salt of the earth’ locals, but is gradually drawn out of her self imposed isolation, and discovers in herself a strength she didn’t know she had. Realising she must confront her tormentor one last time, Connie draws McKenzie into a mouse trap of her own.
